My thoughts

Life coaching has emerged as a valuable resource for individuals seeking personal and professional development, particularly during challenging times. Despite its growing popularity, the industry remains largely unregulated, raising concerns about the quality and legitimacy of some practitioners.
One of the main risks associated with the unregulated nature of life coaching is the lack of legal standards. This allows anyone to become a coach with minimal investment, potentially exposing clients to fraudulent practices. The rapid growth of the life coaching sector, which includes various specialties such as career and financial coaching, reflects a broader trend in "people development." The industry is now worth billions and has grown by 54% between 2019 and 2022.
While many clients find valuable support from life coaches, the absence of regulation creates opportunities for less qualified or even predatory coaches to enter the market. This mixed experience among clients highlights the need for greater oversight and standards within the industry.
I pursued an extensive education, internship with supervision, and a rigorous licensing exam to become a psychotherapist. I then pursued and continue to pursue specialized education in various modalities. I have more than 8,000 clinical hours in therapy. I am held to ethical and legal standards by my licensing boards. There is a difference!
Please proceed with caution and do your homework if you choose to work with a life coach.
